Guidelines for Treatment of Chronic Periodontitis and What They Mean to Your Practice!

Successful Entrepreneur & International Speaker
Guidelines for Treatment of Chronic Periodontitis and What They Mean to Your Practice!
Periodontitis is among the most common chronic inflammatory diseases known to mankind requiring a definitive approach beyond the mechanical removal of biofilm. When we focus on reducing the bacterial component only, we do not achieve the reduction of the host response. Inflammation and destruction continue placing healing, repair and systemic health in jeopardy. Today’s dental hygienist is bombarded with choices, constrained by time and continually striving to ensure their practice reflects current science and evidence. What do the current guidelines suggest and does your practice reflect this? Join Jo-Anne Jones, recognized thought leader for a frank and open discussion on what the current guidelines mean to your clinical practice.
Leaning Outcomes:
- To interpret the current guidelines for non-surgical treatment of chronic periodontitis
- To understand the urgency in mitigating risk of systemic disease by addressing oral inflammation
- To integrate current guidelines into dental hygiene clinical practice

Reducing Cariogenic Bacteria At-Home with a New Medicinal-Grade Xylitol and Bioflavonoids Complex Toothpaste
Since 1952, fluoride is the most widely used therapeutic agent in toothpaste. For adults and children highly infected by cariogenic bacteria (100,000 Streptococcus mutans / mL of saliva), which represents a significant percentage of your patients, fluoride toothpaste will remineralize, but might not offer optimal removal of cariogenic bacteria.
This is why, more than 12 years ago, Dr. Jacques Véronneau, clinician, researcher and one of the only cariologists in Canada, began his journey to identify a therapeutic agent able to reduce the cariogenic bacteria load. He then began many studies, the most important being with 99 Kosovar children, to confirm the efficacy of a 25% xylitol toothpaste against cariogenic bacteria.
Learning Objectives
- How a medicinal-grade 25% xylitol toohtpaste can be effective to reduce cariogenic bacteria
- Results from in-vivo studies showing that a 25% xylitol toothpaste can be an evidence-based, kid-friendly and affordable preventive option for dental professionals, parents and public health units in the fight against high risk caries
- The antibacterial properties of the patented bioflavonoids complex CITROX®

SwissWhite founder
P.A.P. Home-Care Whitening, a Painless, Peroxide-Free and Efficient Alternative
Tooth whitening is an integral part of cosmetic dentistry affecting patient satisfaction and profoundly impacting the clinical and business success of the dental practice. There are a multitude of hydrogen peroxide (HP) and carbamide peroxide (CP) based home-care whitening product available that rely on radical oxygen species to alter the tooth color. Unfortunately, they are often used without professional supervision, and these radical oxygen species can cause adverse soft and hard tissues effects such as tooth sensitivity and gum irritation in patients’ mouths.
This 1-hour webinar will present a rare, recent advancement in take-home whitening. PAP (phthalimidoperoxycaproic acid) has been developed as an oxidant that avoids these radical oxygen species, providing a painless, irritation-free experience for the patients while allowing for up to 14 shades whiter.
Learning objectives:
- Comprehend the mechanism and benefits of PAP whitening technology
- Assess the efficacy and patient outcomes by reviewing studies and research on P.A.P.
- Learn how to integrate a PAP whitening system in your office
